Not a single fatal accident, ever

Etihad has flown since November 2003 without a fatal accident or the loss of one of its aircraft in service. An A340 destroyed in 2007 is sometimes listed against it, but it had not yet been delivered: it was being ground-tested at Airbus's Toulouse site, and no one was killed.

Its long-haul fleet of 787s, 777s, A350s and A380s flies from Abu Dhabi to destinations around the world.

What is Etihad's safety rating?

There is no single official safety rating for airlines; the scores some websites publish are their own formulas. What can be checked is the record: no fatal accident and no aircraft lost in service since 2003. It is a member of IATA, the airlines' trade body, which requires its members to pass IATA's operational safety audit (IOSA).

Has Etihad ever had a crash?
