This is what FlyBud knows about you, why, and what we do with it. The short version: we keep the minimum needed to follow your flights and tell you when something changes, and we do not sell it.

1. Who we are

FlyBud is operated by Jaume Ros, the controller of your personal data. Contact: hey@flybud.app.

2. What we collect

  • Your account: name and email address, and whether you signed in with Apple, Google or a password. We never see your Apple or Google password. With Sign in with Apple we keep a token from Apple so we can disconnect FlyBud from your Apple ID when you delete your account.
  • The flights you follow: airline, flight number, date and route. That is what the app is for.
  • Your logbook: the flights you have flown, kept so you can look back at them.
  • Device tokens for push notifications and Live Activities, only if you allow them, so we can tell you about your flight.
  • Preferences: which notifications you want, your appearance setting, your language.
  • Your subscription status: whether you have FlyBud Pro and until when. We never see your card details.
  • Usage and diagnostics: which screens are used, errors, app version, device model and OS version. We use this to understand how the app is used and fix what breaks.
  • Ad measurement: to learn which of our ads bring people to FlyBud, the app reports to Meta (Facebook) that it was installed and opened and when you add your first flight, and our subscription provider reports purchases to Meta, together with an app-specific device identifier and your IP address. On iPhone we never ask to track you and never read your advertising identifier; Meta measures through Apple's privacy-preserving SKAdNetwork. On Android, Meta may also receive your device's advertising ID, which you can reset or delete in your phone's settings. If you installed FlyBud from an App Store search ad, Apple tells us which campaign it was, never who you are.
  • Our website: if you press Allow on the cookie banner at flybud.app, the site loads a Meta pixel. It sets cookies in your browser and tells Meta which pages you looked at, whether you ran a turbulence forecast and whether you clicked through to the App Store or Google Play, together with your IP address and browser details. We use this to see which ads work and to show FlyBud to people with similar interests. Nothing loads until you allow it, and the Cookies link in the site footer lets you change your answer.

3. What we do not collect

We do not track your location. The map and "Where's my plane?" use the aircraft's position, not yours. We do not read your calendar, contacts or photos; a photo is only saved to your library when you ask to save a share card. We do not show ads in FlyBud and we do not sell your data. On iPhone we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites. We do measure whether our own ads work — see "Ad measurement" above.

4. How we use it, and why we are allowed to

  • To show you your flights and send the notifications you asked for — to provide the service you signed up for.
  • To keep your logbook and make share cards and public flight pages when you ask — same.
  • To manage your subscription — same.
  • To understand how the app is used, keep it secure and fix what breaks — our legitimate interest in a working app.
  • To measure whether our ads bring people to FlyBud — our legitimate interest in knowing what our advertising achieves.
  • To answer you when you write to us — same.

5. Who else sees it

We use a small number of service providers, each bound to use the data only on our behalf:

  • Flight and weather data providers (FlightAware, AeroDataBox, Open-Meteo, aviationweather.gov) receive flight numbers, dates and airport codes — the flight, never your identity.
  • Apple, Google and Firebase Cloud Messaging deliver notifications.
  • Apple, Google and RevenueCat process subscriptions.
  • PostHog processes usage analytics.
  • Meta receives the ad measurement data described in section 2, and the website pixel data if you allowed it; RevenueCat forwards subscription purchases to Meta and, for App Store search ads, receives the campaign from Apple.
  • Mapbox serves the maps; like any map service it sees your device's IP address when it loads map tiles.
  • Hetzner (Germany) hosts our servers and database.

Some of these providers are outside the European Economic Area; where they are, the transfer is covered by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision. We do not sell personal data.

6. A shared flight is public

When you share a flight, anyone with the link can see that flight's status, aircraft and forecast, and the card you chose. The page does not show your name, email or other flights. Stop following the flight, or delete your account, to remove the page.

7. How long we keep it

Your account, flights and logbook exist until you delete them. Raw responses from flight data providers are kept no longer than 30 days. When you delete your account (Settings → Account) your flights, share links and device tokens are deleted and your account is irreversibly anonymized straight away; subscription records are kept as long as tax law requires.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your data, to restrict or object to how it is used, and to complain to your data protection authority. Most of that you can do in the app; for anything else email hey@flybud.app from your account's address and we will answer within a month.

9. Children

FlyBud is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us data, write to us and we will delete it.

10. Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top moves and the app will tell you.
