Not a single fatal accident, ever
Air Europa has flown since 1986 and has never had a fatal accident. From its hub at Madrid-Barajas it flies Boeing 737s around Europe and Boeing 787 Dreamliners across the Atlantic, mostly to Latin America, and it carried more than 12.5 million passengers in 2025.
In July 2024, one of its 787s flying from Madrid to Montevideo met severe turbulence over the Atlantic near Brazil and diverted to Natal. About 40 people were hurt, and no one lost their life.
It began as the Spanish sister of the British airline Air Europe, which stopped flying in 1991; Air Europa carried on independently. It belongs to the SkyTeam alliance and is registered with IATA's operational safety audit (IOSA), which registered airlines must renew every two years.
